An accidental discovery of this Japanese film.

And I turn lesbo just watching her kill. Azumi, the character played by Aya Ueto, is amazing, displaying grace and strength whenever she draws out her sword and fight.

For those of you who love anime, watch this. For those of you who love kick-ass girls, better feast your eyes on this. If you love samurai-movies, watch this. If you love Samurai X aka Rorouni Kenshin, this is "somewhat" his female version, so better be envious. She's a lovely graceful killing machine.

I can't say no more, I just love her. Or heck, maybe I am envious. I wish I'm also good in swords.

This Japanese movie is based on a manga (Japanese comic book) created by Yu Koyama. Azumi, at a very young age, was part of a group trained to be Assassins. I will stop from here. You can start thinking of Kenshin Hemura in female flesh.

This movie was released in Japan in 2003 and the sequel, Azumi 2: Death or Love in 2005. I have yet to watch the second, hence I am now hunting for the second one. They just released the DVD version in the US last year.

Well, there are some questionable action scenes in the first movie, questionable coz I found myself saying "how did that happen?", but what the hell, she is awesome! ^_^

Ok. Enough of Samurai. I am now yearning for a katana myself.

hmn..i'm no expert in swords...but according to wikipedia: "shinobigatana, or the more correct term to use is ninjato, is a sword that ninja carries. Often, however, they were much shorter than the traditional daito katana used by the samurai of feudal Japan". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninjaken

So based on this, some shinobigatana or ninjato swords are classified as katana.

Azumi was trained by a Samurai Master. She was trained in martial skills of samurai and shinobi sword fighting, and the art of assassination.

Special thanks to Wikipedia. LOL.

Samurai and shinobi seldom come together, and usually (by ancient Japanese culture) it's considered a travesty when they do. Which means she's more interesting than meets the eye =D

True Bertie. Hence, a Samurai warrior is different from a ninja warrior, the latter being a "counterculture" to the samurai. However, in this movie, they are trained as assassins so they were trained with many skills. So quite cool seeing these kids engage in sword fights and at the same time, fly. Opps...spoiler. Ehehehehe.
