I don't wanna be a product of my environment, I want my environment to be a product of me. - Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson)

I don't do reviews. I tend to simulate a black and
white perspective towards movies, music, food, whatever.

But for the purpose of commendation, I had to sample a movie
I've waited to see for a couple of months.

The Departed is worth the wait.

I won't even dare discuss the typical plot, character,
cinematography jargon of film critiques. But this I know: this movie isn't a
typical "hollywood" film. Something in the way it was directed
reminds me of anime'ish touch.

When you shoot a person, just shoot him and he falls dead on the floor.
No dramatic exchanges. No "hasta la vista, baby". Just pull the trigger
BANG and you're dead.

I have to commend Leonardo Di Caprio on this one. His acting damn improved.
Maybe its just me. But he is a perfect example that good looks can act. Never mind Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt who the camera pans closely and adoringly...epitomizing first and foremost THE good looks...prior acting. But Leo can own a scene...and you will at one point, forget about his looks. And be moved to his film character.

I never liked him, honestly. The only film he did I ever liked was Catch Me If You Can. The Departed though has clearly shown this matinee idol is an actor.

I will bet this movie will make it to the Oscars. Well done, Martin Scorsese. (jqp10.19.06)

stimulating actually. it makes you think where the black and white come together in Gray when it comes to morals. Leo Dicaprio was superb, i must agree. The ending, though was kind of expected.. to settle the score. Absolutely right-this movie was really worth SOMETHING. (Thanks foir inviting me by the way) =)
